Aisle Containment Solutions For Data Centers

Karis is proud to offer many versatile, industry leading aisle containment systems to allow both new and existing data centers to maximize cooling efficiency.

We provide turnkey product, ranging from a single row in an existing server room to entire data halls in new facilities.

Overlapping Aisle Containment Sliding Panels With Active Release with Single-hinged Self-closing Door

1. Single or double hinged, self-closing doors.

2. Two Panels overlap in the same slide-channel. When top panel is released it will slide down to bottom

3. 1” flexible gasket provides seal between aisle containment panels and server cabinets.

4. Fusible link or magnetic release holds up top panel.

5. Adjustable sized panels fill gaps between aisle containment and shorter cabinets.
Fixed Vertical Aisle Containment Panels With Self-Closing Standard Sliding Doors

1. Standard self-closing sliding door. Door opening 84” x 38”. ADA compliant.

2. Full-height barrier panels fill gaps in cabinet rows to prevent air leakage.

3. Headers can be attached to our standard sliding or hinged doors to extend to the height of the cabinets and/or upper aisle containment.

4. The Cool Shield channel can frame several types of clear or opaque panels.
Electronically Activated Magnetic Release Aisle Containment Ceiling Panels with Flexible Strip Door

1. Overlapping strip doors can attach directly to ceiling panel framing.

2. Electromagnets are wired to a junction box. This junction box can go to fire control panel relay or daisy chain to other junction box.

3. Electromagnet holds two light-weight clear aisle containment panels at the seam.

4. Full-length hinges allow panels to swing down into aisle upon release allowing gas or water based suppression to enter the aisle.

5. Magnets, wires and junction box feature industry standard 4-pin connectors for simple installation.
Two-tier Overlapping Flexible Strip Aisle Containment With Flexible Strip Doors

1. Strips to fill gaps caused by shorter cabinets can be easily cut and attached to lower frame.

2. The Cool Shield channel creates a frame around the aisle containment area to affix strips at both top and bottom to prevent air leakage.

3. Cool Shield strips have an ASTM E84 Class 1 rating which exceeds data center standards set by NFPA 75.

4. Aisle entry Strip Doors attach to lower framework. 12” wide strips have 3” overlap to maintain air seal.
Thermally Activated Drop Away Ceiling Panels with Double-Hinged Aisle Containment Doors

1. Double-hinged doors are self-closing to minimize air loss. Clear aisle containment panels can be UL94 or FM Global rated.

2. Thermally activated ceiling panels melt away and harmlessly fall to ground prior to fire suppression release.

3. The Cool Shield channel frames a ceiling at the height of the tallest cabinet. Fixed or adjustable panels extend to tops of shorter cabinets.

4. The ceiling frame can be attached to cabinet or suspended from above by attaching to ceiling, strut, rod or beams.
Two-tier Aisle Containment with Solid Panels on Toptier and Removable Flexible Strips on Second-Tier with Self-Closing Extended Sliding Doors

1. Self-closing sliding door sized to fully cover server cabinet side panels.

2. Fixed solid panels sized from tallest potential cabinet height to ceiling.

3. 1” gasket attached to top channel to creates seal to ceiling and allows for tolerance in floor or ceiling level.

4. Removable strip hangers sized to cabinet width are attached to lower channel.

5. Full-height overlapping strip wall maintains aisle containment integrity until cabinets are deployed.

In a typical Data Center, only 30% of the conditioned air actually gets to where it’s needed. A typical Data Center uses 2 1/2 X more cooling than necessary and frequently still has hot spots. Using containment to aid in Data Center Airflow Management can cut energy costs.

Separating hot and cold air results in increased return air temperature back to the CRAC unit. This improves overall cooling capacity and provides colder air to the racks.

This difference increases cooling capacity by up to 40%.
Every degree in CRAC set point = 4% savings in cooling costs. Data center containment solutions allow you to increase your CRAC set point by 8°F – 10°F.
